Ridesharing services operate on a seasonal schedule aligned with tourism and local demand

7 days a week
- ✓Peak tourism season coverage
- ✓Full-time service availability
- ✓All drivers may operate anytime
OCTOBER 1 – MARCH 31
Limited operating hours
- •Fridays 6:00 PM - Mondays 6:00 AM
- •Public holidays (full 24 hours)
- •Weekday daytime: regular taxis only

Actual service availability depends on individual driver schedules and demand. Hours shown represent the legal operating window during which ridesharing services are permitted. Traditional taxi services remain available at all times outside these hours.

YOUR SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY
All ridesharing drivers undergo comprehensive background checks by the Bermuda Police Service, hold valid TCD permits, maintain commercial insurance, and operate vehicles that pass rigorous safety inspections. If you ever feel unsafe, you have the right to refuse a ride and report concerns to TCD immediately.
HOW TO BECOME A RIDESHARING OPERATOR
Follow this structured seven-step process to obtain your TCD Ridesharing Permit
Submit Application
Complete and submit the Ridesharing Permit Application to TCD
- Complete/Submit Application
- Provide valid Public Service Vehicle Licence
- Submit Vehicle Information
BPS & TCD Background Review
Bermuda Police Service conducts comprehensive background check
- Criminal record check through BPS
- Driving record review by TCD
- Verification of driver licence validity and endorsements
- Review of traffic violation history (demerit points)
- Assessment of fitness to operate public service vehicle
Random Selection
If applications exceed available permits, lottery system applies
- TCD determines number of new permits to be issued
- If demand exceeds supply, random selection lottery held
- All qualified applicants entered into selection pool
- Unsuccessful applicants placed on waiting list
- Selection process overseen by PSVLB for transparency
Vehicle Inspection
Comprehensive safety and compliance inspection at TCD facility
- Full mechanical inspection (brakes, steering, lights, tires)
- Interior and exterior condition assessment
- Safety equipment verification (fire extinguisher, first aid)
- Emissions and environmental compliance check
Insurance Compliance
Obtain and verify commercial ridesharing insurance coverage
- Policy must specifically cover ridesharing/hire services
- Submit proof of insurance to TCD for verification
- Insurance must remain valid throughout permit period
- TCD maintains direct communication with approved insurers
Permit Issuance
Receive official TCD Ridesharing Permit and vehicle decal
- Pay annual permit fee ($1000)
- Receive official permit document and ID card
- TCD-issued windshield decal affixed to vehicle
- Permit valid for one year from date of issue
- Annual renewal required with inspection and fee
Register with Approved Apps
Complete registration with TCD-authorized dispatch platform
- Confirm registration with an approved ridesharing despatch company
- Complete driver profile with TCD permit information
- Upload required documents (permit, insurance, licence)
- Pass app-based driver orientation and safety training
- Activate account and begin accepting ride requests
